Famous Authors We’ve Worked for in Myrtle Beach
Category : Business Matters
We’ve done a lot of work for folks all over the Grand Strand, Myrtle Beach, and inland areas over the past 30 years. I got to thinking about some of the famous people we’ve worked for from elected officials to minor celebrities with vacation homes. And novelists.
I’m a big reader, and one of my favorite genres is mystery and suspense. Often, when I’m on my way to estimates or jobsites I’ll be listening to one on CD.
I looked back and realized we’d done work for a couple of mystery novelists with homes here in the Grand Strand area.
Here are the ones I could remember, although some of them go by pen names, so, who knows, maybe there are more. I guess that will remain part of the mystery. Click on them if you’re interested. I attached links to their books on Amazon so you can check them out if you’d like.
T. Lynn Ocean, author of Southern Fatality, the rest of the Jersey Barnes mystery series, and other books set here in Myrtle Beach and other parts of South Carolina. Ms Ocean was actually my boss at a former job in addition to work we’ve done for her husband where he works.
Jane Spillane, author of My Life with Mickey and wife of Mickey Spillane, who wrote the Mike Hammer series and has sold more than 225 million books internationally.
Patrice Leary, author of Dire Crossing. We’ve worked on several of her and her husband’s homes over the years, including hundreds and hundreds of projects on the area her husband ran before he retired.
And of course, my mom Teresa Powers. She has a series of trailer park mysteries set in a mythical place called Shady Holler, which is not unlike some of the mobile home parks around here.
So, it turns out, not only have these and other mystery authors given me a lot of pleasure through their books. Some of them have also helped keep us in business.
If you enjoy mysteries, check them out.
