Demo day is fun for so many reasons…

  • You get to tear things up.
  • If it looks bad when you’re done, you probably did it right.
  • Great stress relief.
  • No skill involved.
  • Sledgehammers and crowbars were made for this.
  • Awesome workout.

Our guys love Demo Day.

Now you can celebrate Demo Day with a shirt one of our employees designed.

Who likes credit card points?

A lot of our materials are purchased with company credit cards. It’s the easiest way for us to buy fuel or pay for lumber, because well, who has enough cash on hand to pay for lumber these days?

Our company has been a loyal customer of Chase credit cards for years. They’ve treated us well, and the bonus points from purchases converts easily to a credit on a statement.

Every so often, they send us a special offer to send out to friends and family, so I wanted to pass this one on to you. It’s for the Chase Ink card. Full disclosure, if you sign up, both of us get bonus points.

If you need a new card or your first one, there’s a link below for the special offer. I don’t know all the specs on it, because I think the offer is tied to your spending or income or something, maybe even your dog’s name.

Hint- If it’s tied to spending, you’re welcome to use your new card for a sunroom or deck from us.

Now, on the flipside, we pay off our credit cards every month so we don’t pay interest. It’s a tool, not a debt machine. If you’re not able to pay your card off every month, don’t get another one.

If you’re trapped in this cycle, there are ways to break free. Here’s a resource for the program we follow to stay debt free. It works for business and on the personal level.

Here’s to the beginning of another awesome summer!

Build Your Own Outdoor Projects Virtually

There’s a ton of project visualizers out there for the types of projects we do. I wanted to send out an updated list so you could take a try at it.

Most of these are really good and produce detailed plans and material lists. Feel free to build your dream project here and e-mail it over for us to look at and price out for you.

Note- There are a couple of these for projects that we don’t install, but I included them anyway just in case your dream project requires things outside our product line.

As you get into the process, feel free to get in touch with any questions.

Thanks, Dave

Fiberon Decking. Fiberon is our go-to brand for composite lumber and the makers of the one you can see in our outdoor showroom.

Boral Building Products. We use some of their product line on our sunrooms.
Envision Decking
Royal Building Products. We use Royal for a lot of our siding, soffit, and trim.
Feeney Deckbuilder
. These are the folks that make Cable Rail.
Belgard Hardscapes
Duradek
Fortress Building Products
Simpson Strongtie. Although we don’t use their pergola materials, Simpson’s is one of the only manufacturer’s that has a pergola visualizer.

NEW Awning Warranty INCLUDES Labor!

It’s not often that companies do MORE for you without charging more. One of our suppliers did this, so I wanted to pass on the news.

You may not realize it, but few manufacturer warranties cover labor as well as the parts. This is true for cars, appliances, and most consumer goods. With the suppliers we work with, it includes awnings, windows, doors, shingles, etc.

Sunbrella, one of the largest awning and outdoor fabric manufacturers in the world, just announced an expansion of their warranty to include labor. I could tell you more, but the article below from Specialty Fabrics magazine explains it all.

Just a couple of notes and read on for more info:

  • Sunbrella is not only MADE IN THE USA, but there is a Sunbrella factory right here in South Carolina, just outside of Anderson in the upstate.
  • Our only line of awnings that uses Sunbrella fabric is the upgraded Bel Air Awnings. Sunsetter Awnings DO NOT use Sunbrella fabric. Keep this in mind as you choose from our Good-Better-Best options for awnings.

Lumber Prices are Causing Panic Attacks!

We’ve had to raise prices recently on just about everything we do here at Ocean Breeze Exteriors.

Be sure to read to the end of this…I have a way to keep you down for the current pricing.

Supply chains and workforce issues plagued us last year as COVID policies shut down many of the factories that supply us with windows, awnings, and lumber. Well, COVID isn’t done with us yet. Supply chains for materials are now being affected secondarily.

In other words, initial supplies are out, and now the factory slowdowns of last year are really affecting us.

In addition, raw material pricing is going way up. I’m talking lumber at the source when it still has bark on it kind of materials. Below is an email from one of my suppliers that explains more-

We’re having to raise prices because of that. When prices normalize, we’ll cut ours back as much as we can.

***EXTRA*** Here’s how I’m going to try and help you out.

If we’ve done an estimate for you already, if you sign your contract and send in the required deposit by the end of the month, I’ll hold to the price we gave you on the ORIGINAL estimate.

If you delay past May 31, 2021, your price will go up.

I’ll lose some money on this, but I want to honor those estimates for you.

Please call with any questions.

Thanks,

Dave

PS- To help alleviate things with a little humor, here’s a couple of memes on the whole situation.

Pet Section Added to the DIY Corner

Category : Uncategorized

We’re excited about our DIY Corner, as COVID has changed so much of what we do around our homes.

We’re finding that…

More of you are working around the home.

There’s a pet boom in the US, especially puppies.

You’re trying to enjoy your backyards and outdoor spaces more.

Of course, we want to support you by enhancing your spaces that we build for you, but we’re more than happy to sell you materials and plans for your own projects.

And we’re also doing our best to help you enjoy the outside of your home…hence the new pet section in our DIY resources.

If we can help you train your dog, talk to your cat, or build a koi pod, we’ll do our best to provide that resource.

Visit the pet section of our DIY Corner!

What’s Your Best Tip or Trick for Home Repairs?

I’m inspired to write this post as I’m experimenting for the first time with Flex Seal tape on a plumbing leak at my house. I’ve never tried any of their products before, but I’ve always been tempted to after watching the infomercials. I’ll let you know how it goes with my fix.

I did use some of our roof caulking and Peal and Seal roof tape to fix several holes in my kayak. Worked great. It’s not pretty, but it works.

So what are some of your tips and tricks? Feel free to send me an e-mail back or you could post it straight to our company Facebook page. That way you can post pics, which is even better.

I’d love to see your unique uses for duct tape, epoxy, WD-40, or whatever.

There just might be a prize in it for the best one!

Dave, the guy with a roll of Flex Tape and a small puddle under the pipes
